Most people want to look and feel younger, and there are various ways to help do that. One of them is to get exercise. It’s been proven to be healthy for a person to move more, instead of being stationary and sedentary all of the time. Another thing that’s important where the prevention of aging is concerned is the diet that a person is getting. If he or she is not getting the right foods in the right amounts, then important vitamins and minerals are not finding their way into the body.
Sure, you can take supplements and they do help, but they aren’t the same thing as getting the vitamins and minerals that you need naturally through foods. It’s the mistake that a lot of people make, though. They eat whatever they want, and then they swallow some supplements and assume that they’ve done their part. It’s better than nothing, but it won’t really prevent aging like most people would want it to. Instead, it only helps the body get most of what it needs. To really work on staying younger and looking younger for as long as possible, much more study is needed into how a person should be eating.
One of the things that you really need to be aware of when you’re trying to use your diet to prevent aging is vitamin C. This particular vitamin is good in helping people prevent diseases like colds and flu, but it’s also great for the skin. People who get a lot of vitamin C in their diet have better skin and hair, and they also have fewer diseases overall. The vitamin helps with the growth and repair of tissue, too, and can do a lot for collagen production. In addition to vitamin C, vitamin E is a great choice to help slow aging. What we call vitamin E is actually a group of vitamins that are fat-soluble. They help to counteract stress, and they can be found in mustard greens, sunflower seeds, chard, and turnip greens.
Slowing the aging process can also be done through carotenes and flavonoids. They are good for increasing life span and for protecting against the damage that is caused by free radicals. Genetics help, too, but diet is one way that people who don’t have the best genetics can offset some of that. They can eat better and watch what they put into their bodies, and that will help to ensure that they age as slowly as possible.
