Nearly Everything You Could Ever Want To Know About Acne

It’s long been a rite of passage that when you start your teenage years, you’ll have acne. For generations people have been living with this tell tale sign of growing up. Most people don’t have terrible acne, and find ways to manage it. Some people take great stock in homeopathic remedies while others embrace modern medicine and use powerful prescription drugs and antibiotics.
The word “acne” itself is borrowed from modern latin. It’s etymology can be traced back to 1835 when it took hold in the medical community. At the time, the latin term acme was used. It meant point. Modern latin adopted the word to Acne, meaning pointed. From there it was simply used to refer to as blemishes on the face.
The word itself has been adopted into american slang. Teenagers, those stricken with acne, have begun to incorporate the word into the parts of the body that are effected by it. “Backne” or “Bacne” is a popular term for blemishes on the shoulders and back. Often times, people will have worse acne on their back because they sweat more there. You might also here incantations of the word used like, “Armne” for the arm, “Neckne” for the neck and “Chestne” for the chest. The vernacular goes far beyond wordplay. Modern slang includes words like pimpe, zit, and pissed off pores.
Acne is not limited to teenagers. Acne can happen to anyone at any age. The common myth is that you “outgrow” acne. While most do outgrow facial blemishes, some do not. Since acne is a problem with the pores, it can strike anyone of any age, anywere they have pores. You’ll see proof of this in the super market tabloids every week. If the condition progresses and gets worse, the acne may leave undesireable astethic problems like scarring and cysts. These problems cannot be remedied with any kind of acne treatment.
Recently, several remedies have come on the market that have been endorsed my major celebrities. Names like Jessica Simpson, and Sean “Puffy” Combs can be seen on television touting the benefits of acne treatment. Though non-prescription, when used properly, these treatments can be effective. Most remedies include a combination of an acid found in aspirin, and Benzoyl Peroxide, a chemical similar to that of hair dye. In fact, Benzoyl peroxide and bleach your hair and skin if you do not use it properly.
Some remedies help with acne even though that’s not their main purpose. Women often times will see better skin if they’re on birth control. The hormones in the birth control helps to regulate some common causes of acne. However, prescription pills aren’t the only remedy. In order to reduce the amount of oil on their skin, people will frequently use “egg” masks. This is just as it sounds. You break an egg into a bowl and mix it up. The egg white actually reduces oil, while the yolk moisturizes your skin. People also report a noticeable increase in the firmness of their skin. The only thing to watch for here is that you do not get any of the egg in your mouth, as raw eggs can carry salmonella.
Zeno Acne Device Review

The Zeno is a new, hand-held, battery-operated device that promises to change the way that we look at acne treatment systems forever. Its creation saw the collaboration of some of the brightest and well-respected minds in the scientific electronics realm and whose dedication and hard work may very well change the acne treatment industry and in a good way!
The Zeno device contains a tip which heats up and can be placed directly on a blemish or breakout. Once in contact with the skin, the Zeno transfers the heat it contains in its tip into the follicle(s) of the skin. The Zeno simulates a heat shock response in the p. acnes bacteria, which is the primary cause of about 90% of all acne related blemishes. With the bacterial cells under heat stress, heat shock proteins are activated and cause the self destruction of the p. acnes bacteria. While this sounds messy and not a good way to get rid of acne, the self destruction takes place with the lesion and in turn reduces inflammation and allows the skin to return back to its previously healthy state.
The whole device is regulated by an internal PID controller chip to operate and adapt to each individuals skin type. In other words, the internal workings and temperature regulations of the Zeno will react and operate based specifically on your very own skin characteristics!
Before the first use, the Zeno must be charged for at LEAST 6 hours. You need to keep charging it until the blinking blue light begins to just glow a constant and solid blue. The small plastic tips can be cleaned with warm soapy water as long as it’s never submerged in anything. Alcohol can also be used.
Despite all of this great and wonderful sounding news, alas, there is a downside. If you haven’t been able to piece it together yet, the Zeno acne treatment device is very, VERY expensive. The device itself will run you somewhere along the $130 range and that doesn’t include if you choose to get some replacement tips. Unfortunately, the tips that are used to blow up the bacteria do not last forever and instead must be replaced along with the batteries. A pack of 60 replacement tips will total out to be about $25. It isn’t incredibly expensive when you really think about it and for the things that it can do, it’s certainly worth the price.
Although there have been varying reviews, the Zeno device has worked and worked well for most people. As the product gets a bit older and company sells more of them, it is within reason to expect a small price drop. The only two accessories at the time of this writing are a leather carrying case and a wall charger. Both of which can be purchased as part of a package including the device. The Zeno also comes in four different colors for those who are looking forward to zapping their zits away in the most stylish way possible.

Murad Acne Complex Review
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/skinderm/public_html/wp-content/plugins/alinks/includes/Alinks/Post/Parser/Abstract.php on line 333

The Murad Acne Complex is a complete regimen of acne treatment that includes everything from cleansers to dietary supplements. At the core of the Murad Acne Complex is a three step program which is designed to address every possible problem the skin has in regards to acne. Outside of this three step system are several products that go hand in hand with the base of the three step system. These complimentary products include a spot treatment cream, clarifying mask and dietary supplement.
Step one of the Murad Acne Complex is a gentle clarifying cleanser that has been proven to reduce 99.9% of irritating surface bacteria within one minute of application. Its primary purpose is to cleanse and tone the skin and prepare it for the remaining two steps of the core system. The cleanser also reduces existing acne blemishes in an effort to keep the skin clear and feeling great.
The second step in the system is the exfoliating acne treatment gel. This gel contains salicylic and glycolic acids which help to penetrate the skins pores and consequently flush them clean. The second step is meant to treat and repair the skin even further. In addition to all of this, the second step also makes sure that the skin doesn’t dry out and in turn is kept moisturized, healthy and clear.
The final step is called the skin perfecting lotion. This lotion is oil-free and helps reduce redness and prevent against clogged pores. As in step two, the skin is once again moisturized and hydrated in order to protect it from becoming dry. Although the supplementary products are optional, the basic three step system does also come with the acne spot treatment. This add on bonus is for targeting specific areas of the skin where a breakout is about (or has begun) to occur.
Again, while the complimentary products are optional, they go hand in hand with the regimen and are recommended by Murad’s estheticians. The clarifying mask can be used to absorb impurities and quell any potential acne breakout uprising that may try to occur. The Pure Skin clarifying dietary supplement fights acne from the inside out and helps promote a consistently clear and healthy looking skin. It contains several ingredients such as zinc and vitamin A which all do their own part in the internal fight against acne.
One of the biggest complaints about the Murad Acne Complex system is that if you stray from the twice daily regimen than your acne can in some instances actually get worse! Also, while the overall price isn’t nearly as expensive as some of the other acne products on the market, it is necessary to continue to use the system even after your acne has gone away. So just make sure you’re dedicated to getting clearer skin and also have a fairly substantial amount of spending money before investing in the product.
It may be expensive and time consuming, but it works. And in the end, that’s all that really matters.
