Acne effects nearly everyone at least once during their lives but unfortunately, it effects some people a lot more than others. For these people, it can cause low self-esteem and sap any and all desire to go out and do anything that involves going out into public. There are fortunately many different treatments for moderate to severe acne that have proven to be effective and before we delve into those, let’s first take a look at what acne is and the many different types.

Acne is a term that is used to label clogged pores (whiteheads or blackheads), pimples and the more serious cysts and nodules. It occurs on the face, back, neck, chest, upper arms and shoulders. The risks for each of these types of acne can range from the unfortunate breakout to the more serious lifetime scarring. Depending on the type of acne, how long a particular patient has had it and what has been done to help prevent or promote further acne all have a lot to say in the type of acne treatment for patients that should be used.

The common face scrubs and cleanses all work to help clear up existing acne and help prevent against future breakouts. Redness and irritation after first use is to be expected but after the first few days of use may be an indication that you should stop using the product. Excessive drying of the skin, worsening of the acne and severe itchiness of the area applied are also indications that the products use should be ceased.

Another acne treatment for patients is a dietary nutritional acne supplement. These are usually in pill form and taken orally. Their aim is to target acne from within and help prevent it there while also washing the skin to help prevent from the outside. While severe side effects with this type of treatment are rare, any type of stomach upset or noticeable side effects listed on the products bottle should be a sign that it may be time to move onto a different product.

Sometimes it may get worse before ite gets better, but if you use some common sense you should be able to tell whether or not it’s really worse to the point that you should start thinking about stopping all use of the product. Use your good judgment and that of your dermatologist if yours is in doubt for whatever reason.

Acne treatment for patients is never a happy subject and many people expect their acne to clear up literally overnight. If you go into it hoping for this than you’re already at a severe disadvantage. No matter what happens your skin is very unlikely to seriously begin to show signs of clearing up before at LEAST one full week. Usually it takes a bit longer and is closer to 2-3 weeks so if this doesn’t sound very appealing to you, than just ask yourself if you’d rather do nothing and have it for the rest of your life.

Having a personal dermatologist cost money and is sometimes not fun but will benefit you in the long run especially when you have questions or need explanations on particular treatments. These people make a living on helping people with their skin and acne is absolutely and positively a skin ailment. They’re there to help you and if you pay them for it, UTILIZE their expertise. You can’t just go and become a dermatologist, you actually have to know your stuff and take many a test to prove it. You may not like what they have to say but they study it for a living and you don’t. That’s really all there is to it.

If you don’t nib acne in the bud quickly, especially if it’s the cyst or nodule type than you very well could end up having severe acne skin scarring which would require some SERIOUS money to help clear up and fix (usually with lasers). If this is your problem than you may just have to find out what is going to have to happen so that you can have laser treatment. It’s proven to work and while expensive, will clear up your problem once and for all. Nobody ever said acne treatment for patients was easy but if you keep your eyes on the end goal, that light at the end of the tunnel, than you’ll be enjoying an acne free lifestyle in no time!
